That title is much more dramatic than this post will be :-)! However, I decided this was something worth writing a little blog about, so here goes.
Most of my books – by quite a long way – are books for adults.
However, just before the pandemic, I published a picture book for children – a modern retelling of A Christmas Carol. You can read more about it here if you like…
Was this a one-off? It looks like one! However, something happened early in what I’ll call my writing career that made me feel I really could be a writer. I was joint runner-up in the Cheshire Prize for Literature with a children’s story. That sort of thing stays with you.
I’ve always had some things written for children which have been tucked away for various reasons. Finding an illustrator or being unsure how to market them, for instance. But now I have a bit more experience under my belt, I figure well, why not go for it?
To that end, I’ve created a new website which is just for children’s books: https://lizhkidsbooks.wordpress.com. It has some content up already – you can check out my new picture book if you like! – and there’ll be more over the next weeks and months.
This doesn’t mean I won’t be writing books for grown-ups too – far from it! But I felt it was important to create separate websites so that each set of books can have its own appropriate space.
