Made it – and earlier than planned! Pippa Parker book 5, The QWERTY Murders, is now in its full first draft! I think I wrote my last post on Monday, hoping to finish on Thursday. As it turned out, on Tuesday I got to my planned word count for the day (3000) and found myself INContinue reading “Camp NaNoWriMo – The End!”

Camp NaNoWriMo – nearly there!
It’s day 22 in the Camp NaNoWriMo house, and things are going surprisingly well. Could it be… (cue sharp intake of breath) too well? My project for Camp NaNoWriMo is Pippa Parker book 5, The QWERTY Murders. I’m fairly sure I wrote book 4, Murder in the Meadow, at the same time last year, quite possibly alsoContinue reading “Camp NaNoWriMo – nearly there!”
Camp NaNoWriMo – the story so far!
It’s day 8 in the Camp NaNoWriMo house, and so far (she says cautiously) things seem to be going OK. I’m writing Pippa Parker book 5, working title The QWERTY Murders. It’s been an interesting start. For one thing, when I was working out the schedule to get 50,000 words done in a month, I realisedContinue reading “Camp NaNoWriMo – the story so far!”
A new Pippa book and a new offer!
If it’s July then it must be Camp NaNoWriMo! Well OK not for everyone, and not even always for me. But anyway… I’ve signed up to Camp NaNoWriMo and pledged to write the first draft of Pippa Parker book 5, provisionally titled The QWERTY Murders. Now admittedly it’s only day 2, but so far I’m nearlyContinue reading “A new Pippa book and a new offer!”
Why I’m not doing NaNoWriMo this year
It feels weird to say out loud that I’m not going to be taking part in NaNoWriMo this time around. Admittedly I haven’t been writing long, in the grand scheme of things, but NaNo in November, and Camp NaNo in April and July, formed part of my goals and targets and gave a bit ofContinue reading “Why I’m not doing NaNoWriMo this year”
Possibly the quietest book launch ever! Murder in the Choir
Happy Boxing Day! If you’ve been celebrating Christmas, hope you had a great time and are still full of food and replete with presents. Despite various illness bugs floating around the family, we had a lovely dinner and Santa came! So a good day all round. I possibly enjoyed it more because I was recoveringContinue reading “Possibly the quietest book launch ever! Murder in the Choir”
Winner winner chicken dinner: CampNaNo 2017
Phew! August 1 (how did that happen?) and I’m very pleased to report that Camp NaNoWriMo is done and the sequel to Murder At The Playgroup is in full draft! Here’s the graph: My target was 50,000 words for the month, and in the end I wrote just over 53K to finish Murder In The Choir. TheContinue reading “Winner winner chicken dinner: CampNaNo 2017”

And we’re off! Camp NaNoWriMo begins…
Hello all. The sun is shining, the sky is blue and I am feeling smug because I’ve written 1250 words this morning and started a new book! CampNaNoWriMo has begun. Well, it started yesterday but I was running a poetry and short story event at Stockton Heath festival, so for me today was the day.Continue reading “And we’re off! Camp NaNoWriMo begins…”
The Monster Under The Bed
So Camp NaNoWriMo is over for another year. I achieved my modest target of 25,000 words on April 25 (how apt!), finishing Something Blue the next day with just over 28,000 words. Here’s the graph: I was aiming for between 25 and 30K, so I’ll take that. Once I got started, the writing was fairly easy,Continue reading “The Monster Under The Bed”
