Doing a book reading is one of those things I’ve been meaning to get round to for a long time. So as it’s World Book Day today, I decided to take the plunge and go for it. Not so that you can actually see me reading the book, you understand – after all, there are limits – but you can hear me, should you wish to.
One of the things that put me off was getting my head around the technology. However, after having Zoomed numerous times over the past year, I decided to see whether I could use that. As it turns out, it works surprisingly well, provided that your cat doesn’t come in and meow when you’re in the middle of proceedings.
I won’t say that it’s perfect – it absolutely isn’t – but it’s done! And like most things, having faced up to it, it was actually fine. Don’t expect Facebook Lives from me any time soon, but maybe there will be more book readings.
The book I’m reading from is All At Sea, the first book in the Maisie Frobisher mystery series, and I read the very beginning. Hope you enjoy the video, and if nothing else, you can spot all the times I fluffed. Happy listening!
Well done, Liz. I haven’t tried using Zoom yet, although I did record some intros for my short stories. 😳 Your voice isn’t at all how I imagined, but it came across very well. Congratulations.

Should I ask how you thought I’d sound?!
