Back in May 2017, I joined 12 other writers to take part in a charity Christmas anthology, 12 Days of Christmas, with all profits going to the child literacy charity The Book Bus. The premise was 12 stories, each themed according to the carol ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’.
The anthology was the brainchild of the astoundingly prolific Laura Greenwood, and the authors assembled were a diverse group, writing in fantasy, sci-fi, reverse harem, satire, and even mystery (guess who that was!). Everything – the stories, the cover, the formatting – was given for free.
And here is the good news. We sold over 500 ebooks, and a stack of paperbacks too, in the two months that the anthology was live, and raised £282 (or $391 if you prefer) for The Book Bus! Apparently the average ebook sells 250 copies in its lifetime, so to get to 500-plus in 2 months was a real bonus.
And yes, next Christmas has already been mentioned!
Thank you to everyone who bought 12 Days of Christmas – we couldn’t have done it without you!
PS: If you missed the anthology, and you’d like to read my story, ‘The Most Wonderful Time of the Year’, it’s available exclusively to my newsletter subscribers. Sign up here.
That’s fantastic Liz. Well done to you, Paula and all the other authors involved. A worthy cause. 😀
